With our semi-submersible heavy transport vessel Forte, we are currently active in Taiwan. For the development of the 294.5 MW offshore wind farm TPC2, the vessel transports twenty pinpiles for its first voyage. These piles – varying in length between 62 and 90 meters long – serve in the future wind farm as foundations for the four-legged jackets, which will be installed in a later phase.

To get the 20 pin piles to their installation site in one go, the Forte made optimal use of its 177-meter-long deck. In two rows the pin piles were brought aboard side by side, and on the aft deck a second tier was even placed on top of the first row of pin piles. As a result, the Forte sailed through the Taiwan Strait like a fully loaded double-decker.

In addition to transporting the twenty pin piles, Boskalis is also involved in installing the cable for the TPC2 offshore wind farm. With our cable-laying vessel Ndurance we are installing two export cables with a total length of 42.5 kilometers, connecting the offshore windfarm to the Taiwanese grid.
