MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A new beach renourishment project is set to begin after work wraps up on the north end of Myrtle Beach.
The City of Myrtle Beach announced Monday that a separate renourishment project in the Arcadian Shores area, paid for by the City of Myrtle Beach and Horry County, is scheduled to begin in mid-April.
City officials said the Arcadian Shores work is not a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, even though it uses the same contractor, Great Lakes Dredge & Dock.
Because it is a local project, it will not appear on the Army Corps’ live federal project tracker shared in recent communications. The city announced the addition of the Arcadian Shores project in January.
The new project will cover the northernmost beaches within city limits, as well as portions of the Shore Drive area in unincorporated Horry County, the city said.
