Collier County beaches are getting a grain-by-grain return to the beauty they offer visitors just as the fall tourism season begins.

After damage from Hurricane Milton, work regrading Barefoot Beach began Monday with that at Vanderbilt Beach coming next week. The projects will take about two weeks.

Barefoot Beach Preserve remains closed, and traffic and parking is restricted or entirely unavailable during the effort, officials say.

The work continues during daylight hours Monday through Saturday. The grading involves sand removed from properties after Hurricane Milton and piled on the county beaches.

Restoration work will occur from approximately Reference Monument R-1 near Bonita Beach to R-15 near the southern terminus of the Barefoot Beach Preserve and from R-17 south of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park to R-30 south of Vanderbilt Beach Road.

The Vanderbilt Beach Parking Garage, however, remains open.
