Lake Neusiedl is a UNESCO World Heritage site on the border between Austria and Hungary, supporting rich wildlife, recreation, and local livelihoods.
This winter season, around 60,000 m³ of sediment has been removed from harbour areas and reed channels to keep waterways open and water exchange functioning. Work continues until April.
Maintenance is carried out by hashtagSeemanagement, the Burgenland state-owned company established to manage Lake Neusiedl. Their fleet includes two hashtagWatermaster Classic V eco-dredgers.
“Without removing these deposits, waterways become impassable and sensitive areas fall out of balance,” says Hans Peter Doskozil, Governor of Burgenland.
