The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Philadelphia District shared an update on ongoing repair work on the Chesapeake City Bridge in Cecil County, Maryland. Work includes repairs of the bridge expansion joints and will require periodic single-lane closures.
Single lane closures are currently estimated as follows (subject to change based on weather and construction progress):
- Aug. 3 and 4 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Aug. 8 to 11 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Aug. 15 to 18 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Aug. 22 to 25 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Aug. 29 to Sept 1 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
- Sept. 12 to 15 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Sept. 19 to 22 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
- Oct. 3 to 6 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
No lane closures are anticipated on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
The Chesapeake City Bridge was built in 1948 connecting the two sides of the city. The main span is 540 feet long and the overall length of the bridge is 3,954 feet.
