Army Corps of Engineers begin dredging Ohio River

Army Corps of Engineers begin dredging Ohio River this weekend

Posted on August 19, 2024

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – the Army Corps of Engineers will once again be dredging the Ohio River.

They got started on their “Pump Out Project” Friday, and will continue through the weekend.

They ask boaters to be mindful , especially at night.

The sand is being pumped will make a temporary island, but they ask that you do not leave boats unattended.

In a viral moment for the Tri-State, two years ago, someone mysteriously placed a camper on the sandbar which eventually sank and made a bit of a mess.

Last year they told us, if objects are put into the river that cause a violation of public safety or transportation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will have to change their dredging tactics to prevent creating a sandbar.
