Argentina’s Santa Fe plans over $500 million in port investments for 2026

Posted on January 21, 2026

The government of Argentina’s Santa Fe province said it expects more than $500 million in port and logistics investments to be consolidated throughout 2026, aimed at strengthening infrastructure across several locations in the province.

The announcement was made by Governor Maximiliano Pullaro and Production Development Minister Gustavo Puccini as part of an integrated public policy focused on logistics and productive development.

The plan combines private-sector funding with active participation by the provincial government, coordinating efforts between concessionaires and public authorities to modernize existing infrastructure and meet growing export demand.

According to the provincial government, total planned investments exceed $521.9 million and draw on multiple sources. The largest share, $276.9 million, corresponds to the first project approved under Santa Fe’s Regime for Incentives to Large Investments (RIGI), which involves the construction of a multipurpose port in Timbúes. A further $239 million comes from investments by private concessionaires, including Terminal Puerto Rosario, Servicios Portuarios and PTP Group, while the provincial government is contributing $5.5 million in direct funding. The package includes both new projects and works already under way, with implementation scheduled between 2025 and 2026.

Key initiatives include the renovation and expansion of port infrastructure in Rosario and Timbúes, as well as quay works and equipment purchases totaling more than $80 million at the terminal operated by Servicios Portuarios. Terminal Puerto Rosario (TPR) is developing projects valued at around $30 million, while the Santa Fe Free Trade Zone (Zofravilla) accounts for investments of about $120 million, of which roughly $65 million has already been executed. Plans for the complex include the installation of bulk cargo cells and tanks with capacity exceeding 6,500 cubic meters.

The provincial government said the projects are intended to boost operational efficiency at Santa Fe’s ports, improve maneuvering capacity and strengthen logistics flows linking regional production to export supply chains. In 2025, terminals in the province handled more than 3.7 million tonnes of cargo and 79,710 containers, driven mainly by agro-industrial shipments, auto parts and a diversification of services. During the same period, the port of Rosario began handling lithium cargoes, with expectations of attracting additional volumes tied to the energy sector.

The provincial Secretariat of Transport and Logistics added that greater integration of ports into Santa Fe’s logistics system has helped expand connections with provinces such as Córdoba, Salta, Catamarca and Jujuy, reinforcing the province’s export profile at both national and regional levels.
