Construction consultancy business Arcadis has signed a deal to collaborate with a tech start-up that provides a drone-based digital asset management service.
Niricson, based in Canada, uses robotics, computer vision and acoustic technology combined with AI, to provide predictive asset management and condition assessments.
The service is designed to monitor the condition of bridges and other concrete infrastructure.
The company launched in 2020 through the ‘Arcadis City of 2030 Accelerator’ programme. It aims to identify and develop start-ups focused on transforming the natural and built environment through innovations in urban planning, resiliency, and sustainability.
It has already completed pilot projects in both the US and Australia. The collaboration will allow Arcadis to use the technology for bridge inspections in several key markets, including the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.

Ultimately, automating inspections will make the maintenance process more efficient, reduce the potential for injury, and result in less disruption to the transport network.”
