Maintenance dredging of the harbour is required on a regular basis to ensure the required navigable depth for the safe passage of vessels and the continued success of the harbour.
Around 10,000 tonnes of sand are expected to be removed.
Public footpaths in the vicinity of the works will be shut until they are complete.
A Denbighshire County Council spokesperson said: “Annual dredging has commenced at Rhyl Harbour.
“Contractors are expected to remove in the region of 10,000 tonnes of sand to maintain navigable channel depths for customers using the harbour.
“Works are expected to take up to two weeks and public footpaths in the vicinity of works will remain closed until works are complete.”
