Ampelmann mobilises first L-type in Abu Dhabi
As one of the pioneers of Walk to Work (W2W), we are proud to announce that we have signed a contract with shipping company P&O to supply one of our L-type gangways t to a major player in the offshore industry in Abu Dhabi. This is an exciting moment for us as we continue to promote W2W in Abu Dhabi and strengthen our foothold in the Arabian Gulf.
W2W is a safe and efficient offshore access solution that increases operational flexibility and provides consistent and reliable access throughout the year. As one of our primary systems for sea states up to 2m Hs, the L-type motion compensated gangway is a cost-effective access solution that extends weather windows and increases the safety and efficiency of offshore operations. Fully electric, it fits both smaller and larger vessels, has a low carbon footprint and is ideally suited for operations varying from crew change to supporting construction and maintenance scopes on offshore installations. The system was fitted to the vessel early September and will shortly assist with installation work on an -key subfield off the coast of Abu Dhabi, lf where it will continue to operate for a minimum of seven months, with extensions up to a year.
We have been operating in the Middle East for over a decade and our A-type and L-type gangways have already transferred over 1,200,000 people in the last ten years. “We have become well known in the regional market”, Steve Kaub, our business developer for the Middle East, says, “as our reliable systems, trained operators and services greatly increase the efficacy of offshore operations. Due to our local offices in Qatar and Dubai we have a strong regional presence that enables us to quickly mobilise and deploy our systems at short notice, whenever, and wherever they are needed.”
“Over the years”, Kaub continues, “we have built-up a robust network of commitments throughout the Middle East. Ampelmann is always ready to meet the demands of individual clients and we are keen to take on a more active role in the region.”
We are looking forward to working together with P&O and to a successful completion of this project. We are always looking to bring Walk to Work to new markets and transform offshore work to become safer and more efficient with our innovative motion compensated gangway systems.
