AMIGO LNG a joint venture between Epcilon LNG and LNG Alliance, has awarded COMSA Marine the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its marine facilities.
This contract is a pivotal step in establishing AMIGO LNG’s 7.8 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico.
COMSA Marine will undertake detailed engineering, construction and commissioning of marine infrastructure at the AMIGO LNG terminal.
This includes the LNG jetty, berthing and mooring facilities, and the utilities required for LNG loading operations.
The advanced quad-berth marine facilities, featuring high-capacity LNG loading arms capable of more than 15,000m³ per hour, will enable quick vessel turnaround and efficient loading, enhancing the terminal’s operational efficiency.
LNG Alliance CEO Muthu Chezhian said: “Awarding the EPC contract for our marine facilities represents a key achievement in our project schedule.
“COMSA Marine brings extensive experience in LNG terminal construction and marine engineering, which ensures we will meet the highest standards of safety, quality and environmental stewardship.”
AMIGO LNG’s strategic location takes advantage of Guaymas’ deep-water port and its proximity to significant gas supplies.
The company is focused on initiating LNG exports by the third quarter of 2028 (Q3 2028), fostering economic growth, local supply chain development and job opportunities in Sonora.
Additionally, AMIGO LNG’s competitive pricing and reduced shipping distances could lead to a 35% reduction in voyage times for its global customers.
COMSA Marine president Ruben Alamo said: “We are honoured to be entrusted with this challenging project. Its success will be driven by our unique combination of local expertise and an unwavering commitment to the highest international standards in environment, safety and quality.
“We look forward to collaborating closely with all stakeholders to deliver this landmark project in Mexico that will create lasting value for the entire region.”
AMIGO LNG secured a long-term LNG supply agreement with E&H ENERGY of Malaysia in August 2024.
Starting in Q3 2027, AMIGO LNG will supply 3.6mtpa of LNG to E&H for the Malaysian market under a 20-year contract.
