For the first time in its history, the Port of Alsea has received federal approval to begin dredging in late November an estimated 30,000 cubic yards of sediment from its marina area.
The ambitious $750,000 project also will include the purchase of a protective debris boom in an effort to slow the buildup of Alsea River material that annually collects in the area during heavy storms.
