ALDOT has Begun Dredging Little Lagoon Pass by Mechanical Excavation

Posted on March 16, 2016

Due to a major mechanical failure of the dredge barge, Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) has begun dredging Little Lagoon Pass just north of Lee Callaway Bridge by mechanical excavation. A long reach track hoe has been mobilized and has begun cutting the channel and stockpiling the excavated sand.

Starting Monday, February 22 single axle off road trucks will be on site to transport the stockpile material across the bridge and approximately 1,500 feet west of the Pass to be deposited at the water’s edge. Traffic Control Flaggers will be utilized to stop vehicle and pedestrian traffic to allow the off-road trucks to transport the material across the bridge. Any loose sand will be removed from the roadway by a mechanical broom.

ALDOT estimates the work should be completed within two weeks.
