It’s been more than a week since Jax Chamber backed out of its written agreement with St. Johns Riverkeeper Lisa Rinaman, who said she has yet to hear a word on the matter from the chamber itself.
“It was quite a surprise,” Rinaman told the Business Journal in a phone interview.
The agreement bound the chamber to support the Riverkeeper’s efforts to breach the Rodman Dam and restore the Ocklawaha River, a longtime goal of local environmentalists. In return, the Riverkeeper agreed not to oppose the plan to deepen the St. Johns River shipping channel.
