In a key meeting for the future of the Latin American port industry, the Executive President of AAPA Latam, Juan Duarte, together with the General Director of the AAPA Latam Congress, Zulma Dinelli, met with the authorities of the Argentine Port Council (CPA) to present AAPA’s new strategy for Latin America.
The main objective of the meeting was to strengthen regional cooperation and outline progress towards the Congress to be held in Lima, Peru, from June 24 to 27, 2025, consolidating itself as the main event in the region in the port and logistics field.
The meeting was attended by prominent Argentine authorities, including the president of the Argentine Port Council, Mr. José María Lojo, and representatives of the ports of Bahía Blanca, Dock Sud, Ushuaia, Rosales, San Nicolás, Quequén and La Plata. During the meeting, attendees had the opportunity to learn first-hand about AAPA’s plans to boost cooperation between ports and foster innovation in the industry’s infrastructure and processes.
Progress in the AAPA Regional Strategy
In his presentation, Duarte highlighted several strategic lines of action that seek to strengthen the Latin American port sector through a renewed strategy that prioritizes training and technical development programs to respond to the specific needs of the region, training more competitive leaders and professionals.
In addition, the creation of new financing alternatives for infrastructure modernization and expansion projects will be promoted, which are essential to increasing the competitiveness of Latin American ports on the global stage.
Promoting connectivity between ports in the region and with international markets is another pillar, which seeks to facilitate trade and increase the visibility of ports at a global level.
AAPA Latam is also committed to providing up-to-date information and analysis services, offering its members access to sector reports and relevant data for informed decision-making, helping to address operational and regulatory challenges.
A New Stage for AAPA in Latin America
During the meeting, the Argentine authorities agreed on the importance of this new stage for the Association in the region, highlighting the importance of having a renewed strategy that responds to the challenges shared by Latin American ports. In particular, they stressed that the focus on cooperative cooperation, technological innovation and improved operational efficiency is essential to ensure the sustainability and growth of ports in a highly competitive global environment.
The president of the Port Council, José María Lojo, expressed his enthusiasm for this new phase of the Association, pointing out that collaboration between the ports of the region is essential to strengthen competitiveness and the ability to respond to the needs of international trade.
Looking to the Future: Annual Congress 2025 in Peru
With this event as a key milestone in the industry calendar, the Association seeks to consolidate Latin American ports as key players in the global logistics chain.
Zulma Dinelli, Director of the AAPA Latam 2025 Congress, highlighted that it will be a unique space to promote dialogue between the public and private sectors, allow the exchange of best practices and present the most relevant infrastructure projects of Latin American ports.
This event, to be held in Peru, will serve as a meeting point for more than 500 industry leaders and authorities, who will discuss the trends, opportunities and challenges facing the port sector in Latin America.
