A $670,000 river dredging project has begun at the Rewa River.
While commissioning the dredging operations today, Fiji’s Minster for Waterways Dr Mahendra Reddy said several villages would benefit from this project.
He said those areas would be protected from flooding and related damage of agricultural farms, farm produce and personal properties.
The maintenance dredging works will be undertaken from the Toga river mouth to the Nasali river mouth.
Dr Reddy said about 40,000 cubic meters of silt and sand would be removed.
