BEACHES under attack from erosion in Sorrento, Frankston and Carrum will share in a $4.8 million plan to protect Port Phillip Bay.
The State Government says it will commit to annual monitoring of bay beaches while spending the millions on renourishing beaches at Sandringham, Sorrento West, Eastern Beach Geelong, St Helens and Moorpanyal, Hampton, Frankston South and Carrum.
Two awards will also be given to postgraduate university students for coastal research projects in Port Phillip and Western Port bays.
