$20M grant helps pave the way for redevelopment of Jeffersonville’s waterfront

Posted on October 8, 2025

A major transformation is coming to the former Jeffboat site along Jeffersonville’s waterfront.

The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) announced approval of a $20 million grant from Lily Endowment Inc. to support redevelopment efforts.

“We are grateful to Gov. Mike Braun and the IEDC team for their continued support of this redevelopment project,” said George Piccioni, vice president of business development at American Commercial Barge Line, which is headquartered in Jeffersonville.

Now that the grant has been approved, the next phase of the project will shift towards preparing the site for future development in partnership with The Wheatley Group and Thrive Companies.

“We couldn’t be more excited about this project and the opportunity to invest in the State of Indiana,” said Steve Bollinger, principal and executive vice president of development at Thrive Companies.

Leaders at ACBL said the grant funding lays the foundation for transforming the Jeffersonville waterfront into a “vibrant, mixed-use development” that will help reestablish “the waterfront as a vital economic engine for the area.”
