The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will receive more than $12 million from the federal government for repairs to the north and south break wall at Buffalo’s Outer Harbor, as well as harbor dredging.
The north wall is about 100 years old- and it’s beginning to show its age.
The south break wall is even older.
“This break water is routinely exposed to some of the most severe ice conditions on all of the great lakes, which has caused a 1,000 ft. section of it to break down,” Rep. Brian Higgins explained during a Monday press conference to announce to repairs.
