Now, this country has unveiled the Mother of All Energy plants, with 1,000 wind turbines and 60,000 MW of output. At least we know they will be able to power the Oktoberfest for many, many years, not even to mention all the museums, libraries, theaters, and orchestras.

In 2024, a specific country’s authorities gave their permission to build more than 2400 land-based wind turbines, which is more than ever before. Per the country’s Federal Association of Wind Energy (BWE) and its industry association VDMA Power Systems, the approved 2405 wind turbines boasted a volume of 14 gigawatts.
The country’s land-based wind turbines produced nearly 112 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in 2024. This production accounted for more than a quarter of the electricity produced. Its associations believe that in 2025, the current volume of 63.5 GW should increase by 4.8 to 5.3 gigawatts, which is an almost 50% increase compared to the 2024 installations.
However, the country’s ocean-based wind energy potential may improve its overall wind energy volume. Offshore wind turbines work most effectively when they receive strong winds that remain steady in their working environment. Currently, its total working wind turbine fleet exceeds 30,000, but offshore installations represent less than 1,200 units. This might be due to each offshore piece needing strong anti-corrosion protection and high endurance to extreme conditions. It doesn’t matter, as this country is still crushing it with wind energy.

This country is none other than Germany, which made history by operating the 1,000th series production of main bearings for multi-megawatt turbines at Thyssenkrupp Rothe Erde facilities in March 2020. As the world’s largest wind energy market, this historic threshold production indicates the nation’s commitment to renewable energy.
The country has been working hard to position itself as a global leader to enhance its nation through the development of future sustainable energy systems. The main bearings from ThyssenKrupp Röthe Erde supply electricity to 7.5 million homes annually, making Germany the top renewable energy leader in the world.
Germany was already deemed a global leader in wind power after surpassing lignite in 2019, when wind energy became the country’s main energy source. Currently, wind energy in Germany holds the third worldwide position and leads all nations in Europe because of its 61,405 megawatts installed volume.
