(Business in Cameroon) - Filipino group International Container Terminal Services is the provisional successful bidder for the development and maintenance of Kribi port’s multipurpose container terminal.
This was announced in a release signed by the port’s managing director Patrice Melom. Let’s note that four other consortiums have been shortlisted. They are namely Coega Development Corporation/Transnet, Marsa Maroc/AIIF3, Medlog/Wide Resources Limited, and Port of Antwerp/Sinotrans/Comexas Afrique.
Unless there is a change in the decision, the Filipino group will replace the Kribi Polyvalent Multiple Operators (KPMO) consortium, which signed a 2-year sub-contracting agreement for some activities at the multipurpose terminal. In 2020, it will start managing the multipurpose terminal whose nominal yearly capacity is 1.2 million tons.
It is also worth mentioning that KPMO had replaced French logistics group Necotrans, deemed “defaulting” by Cameroon in January 2018.
